How To Improve Your English Fastly!

Hi, guys, I'm Nouhaila from Speaking English With Noha and in this lesson, we will talk about improving your English. And I will give you three reminders that will help you get back on track to achieve your goals more quickly.

How To Improve Your English Fastly!
How To Improve Your English Fastly!

1. Step out of your comfort zone

You've heard of that expression before, haven't you? Your comfort zone is that safe, warm, familiar and comfortable place where you know exactly what is going on. You know where everything is, you know what you have to do, you never have to worry about anything. This space is comfortable but makes you lazy. This is not the place where a big change occurs. That's where things happen slowly, isn't it? Which is good until you're in a hurry.

But becoming a confident English speaker is not just something that happens to you when you sit on your ass, is it? You need to look for opportunities to challenge yourself, to push yourself further outside your comfort zone.

My general rule of thumb is that if it's difficult, if you feel a little uncomfortable or a little embarrassing, do it, one hundred percent, do it. It is these situations that will allow you to reach the next level more quickly. When was the last time you left your comfort zone in English? What did you do? What did you do? Tell me about it in the comments.

Now, I'm not telling you right now that everything you do in life must be outside your comfort zone. That would be horrible! It would be so stressful! But deliberately create opportunities to get out of your comfort zone. This is where the magic happens, but you have to create these opportunities.

2. Set clear objectives and make a plan.

Have you ever caught yourself making vague statements such as:

I really want to improve my English this year.
I want to be more fluid.

These are very vague statements. What do they mean by that? For this to happen and for it to happen quickly, we need much more specific objectives. What exactly are you trying to achieve? And when? A better objective is:

I would like to increase my IELTS speech score by 0.5 in three months.
I want the confidence to have a conversation with my boss at our annual dinner in October.

This is a specific objective. Once you have this goal in mind, create a plan with specific events and activities that will help you achieve it. If your goal is to have the confidence to talk to your boss in six months, what can you do to make this happen? And there are many things you can do!

You can use imitation lessons to practice your pronunciation and expression. You can go to a language exchange every month to practice with other English speakers in your city. You can take a course, register for online courses.

Now, I want you to think back to your comfort zone. Are these objectives a little more ambitious than those with which you feel comfortable? Or can you make them a little more difficult?

3. Interacting with other humans

Now, this may seem a little obvious, but to improve your oral skills, you must use your English in a conversation. To do this, the use of English in a conversation is 100 percent and is absolutely the biggest difference between drifting students and those who accelerate and improve faster than others. You need to push yourself a little out of your comfort zone. Just a little bit at first.

If you live in an English-speaking country, turn off your computer or put down your phone right away and join a sports team or participate in a meeting with international students or volunteer at a local community center. All these opportunities are right on your doorstep.

If you are not in an English-speaking country, take an online course, find a language exchange in your city. People are learning English everywhere. Wherever it is possible to meet other English speakers and join them in conversations, take them! The opportunities to practice are there. They are all around you.

All right, this all!
